Annual Chamber tourney sells out

The Bethlehem Chamber's annual Walla Gazoo golf tournament was a big hit with area golfers on Aug. 19, as more than 120 played at the Bethlehem Municipal Golf Course in the event which was organized in the late 1950's by Bethlehem area businessmen Walt Dealtry, Frank Banko and Sam Macri. Lynn Collins Cunningham, vice president of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce's Bethlehem Initiatives, said that the event sold out. Proceeds from the event "support all initiatives in the Bethlehem Office of the Chamber," according to Cunningham. The Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association sponsored a $25,000 hole-in-one voucher that could be used to purchase a vehicle from any one of the member dealerships, although no golfer scored the lucky shot. Cunningham also gave special mention to three key sponsors, Caruso Benefits Group, Capital Blue Cross and Banko Beverage Company for their continuing support of the event. Prizes were also awarded in the categories of longest drive men, longest drive women, closest to the pin, pot of gold and the Banko Cup was awarded to the top foursome during an evening clambake held at the course.
