Catasauqua Column

The Catasauqua Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua.

Pennsylvania master gardender Marianne McNeil will discuss green gardener, an approach that minimizes disruption of native habitats, maximizes soil quality, practices green pest management and conserves water and fertilizers.

Entries for judging must be in place by 12:45 p.m. Remember to return your club project at the meeting, if it is not already in your compost pile.

Garden friendly visitors are welcome.

The Catasauqua Fire Police will be holding a flea market 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the fire training grounds. Spaces are available for a fee. No electric or tables are provided.

Food and beverages will be for sale.

The Catasauqua Thrift Shop located on Bridge Street just reopened Monday, Aug. 26, with new clothing for fall and winter. It had been closed for a week of housecleaning and clothing changeover.

The hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Stop by and see the new fashions.
