Assumption BVM church will hold its annual picnic Sunday, Sept. 8 at Egypt Memorial Park.

The event begins with a Mass at 11 a.m.., then continues with music, games and food until 7 p.m. The Emil Schanta Band will perform at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The church will also take part in Celebrity Scoop Night Friday, Aug. 23, 6-9 p.m., at Rita's, 3219 Cherryville Road.

A portion of the proceeds benefits the church.

The Friends of the Northampton Area Public Library is sponsoring a chartered bus trip to the Civil War Museum, Harrisburg, and the 13th Annual Civil War Reenactment Train Ride, Middletown, on Saturday, Sept. 21.

This trip is open to everyone who would like to come, not just library patrons. Deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, Aug. 29.
