Fountain Hill's Borough Council made short work of a brief agenda during its July 17 workshop.

Council members voted unanimously to approve a request by St. Luke's University Hospital for $840 in additional signage to better signal the detour routes necessitated by the Delaware Avenue Reconstruction Project. Council Vice President Norman Blatt added that he anticipates St. Luke's to reimburse the borough for the cost of the signs.

The $2 million road reconstruction project began July 9 with the closing of three blocks of Delaware Avenue between North Hoffert Street and Broadway for resurfacing and repair. The project will proceed in four stages, closing several blocks at a time, concluding at the Cherokee Street intersection in "early-to-mid September" according to Borough Executive Administrator Rick Prill.

In other business, council unanimously voted to accept the resignation of part-time Police Officer Daniel Troxell. Councilwoman Helen Halleman said it was a shame to lose an officer after he had only recently completed training.

Troxell resigned as a result of other work commitments according to Prill. He had been sworn in as a part-time officer at the March 5 council meeting. Troxell is also a member of the Nazareth Police Department.

Fountain Hill Mayor Jose Rosado, Council President Lawrence Rapp, and Junior Councilperson Justin Santanasto were not present at the Wednesday meeting.
