UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

Upton named

to dean's list

Samantha Upton of Coplay has been named to the University of Delaware's dean's list for the spring semester.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean's list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

MESSIAH COLLEGE

Hawk and Seyfried receive degrees

Coplay resident Victoria Hawk was one of 651 students to graduate from Messiah College May 18.

Hawk graduated cum laude with a degree in biology.

Catasauqua resident Lindsay Seyfried also graduated magna cum laude with a degree in education certification grades pre-kindergarten through four.

MCDANIEL COLLEGE

Fatzinger attains dean's list

Danielle K. Fatzinger of North Catasauqua has been named to the McDaniel College spring dean's list with high honors.

High honors means she achieved a grade-point average of 3.70-3.89.

SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY

Eichelberger receives award

Kara Eichelberger of Whitehall received a George Boone Academic Achievement Award in biology at Susquehanna University recently.

The award in presented each year to the senior with the highest GPA in the major. This year two seniors were recognized.

Eichelberger is a recent Susquehanna graduate and a 2009 graduate of Whitehall High School. She is the daughter of Paul and Kristine Eichelberger.

Strohl graduates

Branden Strohl of Catasauqua graduated from Gettysburg College May 19 with a degree in psychology.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY

Hertzog named to dean's list

Ashley Hertzog of Catasauqua has been named to Alvernia University's dean's list for the spring semester.

The senior biochemistry major is a graduate of Catasauqua High School.

To be eligible for the dean's list, students must attain a semester GPA of 3.5 or better with a minimum of 12 credits.

ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY

Cunningham named to dean's list

Abby Cunningham of Catasauqua has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. She is a biology major.

Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the dean's list.

HARTWICK COLLEGE

Mease attains dean's list

Hartwick College first-year student Nigel Mease of Northampton has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Hartwick College.

Mease is majoring in history and political science. He is the son of Rickey and Maria Mease.

Inclusion on Hartwick's dean list is an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full course load with at least a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 scale.

Gestl graduates

Abigail Gestl of Bath received a Bachelor of Science degree in marine science and biochemistry during the May 21 Eckerd College commencement ceremonies held in St. Petersburg, Fla.

MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY

Klobosits named to dean's list

Caitlin Klobosits of Coplay has been named to the spring 2013 dean's list at Mansfield University.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must be attending the university full-time and attain at least a 3.5 GPA for the semester.

Dorschutz attains dean's list

Sierra Dorschutz of Coplay, a second-year student in the film and animation program in RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2013 quarter.

ITHACA COLLEGE

Bath resident named to dean's list

Eric Flyte of Bath was named to the dean's list in Ithaca College's School of Music for the spring 2013 semester. Flyte, a member of the class of 2014, is a performance and music education major.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY

Roginsky named to dean's list

Katlyn Roginsky of Bath has been named to Alvernia University's dean's list for the spring 2013 semester. She is a sophomore biochemistry major at Alvernia and a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School.

To be eligible for the dean's list, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits.

Bendekovits is White House Intern

Amy Bendekovits of Northampton has been selected to participate in the White House Internship Program for the summer 2013 session.

Bendekovits currently attends Temple University.

The mission of the program is to make the White House accessible to future leaders around the nation and to prepare those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities.

A White House Internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and build leadership skills. Interns work in one of several White House departments, including the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Council, the Office of Cabinet Affairs, the Office of Chief of Staff, the Office of Communications, the Office of Digital Strategy, the Office of the First Lady, the Office of Legislative Affairs, the Office of Management and Administration, the Office of Presidential Correspondence, the Office of Presidential Personnel, the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, the Office of Scheduling and Advance, the Office of the Vice President, the Office of the White House Counsel and the Office of White House Fellows.

PHI SIGMA LOTA

Eichelberger inducted

Kara Eichelberger of Whitehall was one of 14 students recently inducted into the Phi Sigma Iota international foreign language honor society at Susquehanna University. She was recognized for her achievement in German.

Eichelberger is a recent graduate who majored in biology. She is a 2009 graduate of Whitehall High School and the daughter of Paul and Kristine Eichelberger.

Residents named to dean's list

Sarah M. Braun, Colin M. Fox, Lauren L. Rice, Jenna L. Schmoyer and Stephen T. Sommers of Bath and Bridgette A. Shambo and Lea M. Shipwash, all of Northampton have been named to the DeSales University dean's list.

ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY

Whitehall residents selected

Edward Cadman and Vanessa Hernandez of Whitehall have been selected to serve as resident assistants at Alvernia University for the 2013-14 academic year.

Cadman is an accounting major and a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School. Hernandez is an occupational therapy major and a Whitehall High School graduate.

CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE

Students named to dean's list

Abby Gruver and Jessica Hobel of Coplay have been named to the dean's list at Chestnut Hill College.

Grover is a sophomore early education major and Hobel is a sophomore majoring in forensic chemistry.

Students are named to the dean's list if they have achieved a 3.6 GPA or higher, and are recognized at opening convocation held in the fall semester.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY

Mickley makes dean's list

Andrew John Mickley of Whitehall was named to the Miami University dean's list.

Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2012-13 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND

Kistler named to dean's list

Rebecca C. Kistler of Northampton has been named to the dean's list at the University of Rhode Island.

To be included on the dean's list, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average.

Christina Wargo of Catasauqua has earned dean's list status during the spring 2013 semester at Hofstra University.

Wargo, a member of the class of 2013, majored in film studies and production.
