LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Catasauqua column

The Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, Second and Pine streets, will host summer vespers 6 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in the air-conditioned chapel.

Be prepared to enjoy an evening of inspiration. The RMS Titanic will be the theme of the program entitled "Annie Funk: A Life That Made a Difference."

Pastor Bob Gerhart of Bally, Berks County, will share an inspirational chalk art presentation taking those present back to Annie C. Funk's Pennsylvania homestead and then to her missionary activity in India before concluding with her journey on the ill-fated Titanic in 1912. Bally was home to Funk, a Titanic passenger.

Using special chalks, lighting and music, Gerhart will draw a portrayal of the life of Funk and her journey on the Titanic while the audience watches.

An ice cream social will follow.

The public is invited to the event.
