Volunteers are needed by the North Catasauqua Betterment Committee for the North Catasauqua small Town USA Carnival June 12-15 and the June 23 golf tournament. No experience is necessary. This is an opportunity for those who want to get out of the house, give back to the community or accrue service hours. A variety of positions are available. The North Catasauqua Small Town USA Golf Tournament will be June 23 at Willowbrook Golf Course, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start in a four-person scramble format. Call for details or pick up a registration form at borough hall.

The Suburban North Family YMCA in Catasauqua is sponsoring the Million Dollar Town 5K and Scenic Walk on Saturday, June 15. Pre-registrations are being accepted until June 12 online or at the Y. Registrations will also be accepted starting at 7:30 a.m. on the 15th. Proceeds will allow the YMCA to provide child care, camp and swim lessons to those who cannot obtain or afford it elsewhere. St. Andrews Young at Heart, Third and Eugene streets, will meet June 26 in the church social hall, for a time of fun, friendship, and bingo. The group will be heading to Mohegan Sun on June 28 and to Ace in the Hole, N.J., for October Fest with entertainment by Al Meixler on Oct. 9. Seats are available on the bus for both trips. The North Catasauqua Recreation Committee has announced its free summer concert series. On June 7, Wicked Beaver will perform at the borough park pavilion beginning at 7 p.m. Craig Fritchey and Friends will entertain 6-9 p.m. June 21. More to be announced here later.

The recreation committee and the borough are sponsoring the annual Summer Youth Program at the park weekdays, beginning June 17. The program includes a morning craft session, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and afternoon Wiffle ball games from 1 to 4 p.m.

Free beginner tennis lessons will be given June 17, 18, 24, 25 and July 1 and 2, from 8:30 until 10 a.m. All ages are welcome, from first graders to adults. Participants must wear sneakers. Try to have a racquet. Call Nin Snyder with questions at 610-264 4328.
