LOWER MILFORD

Lower Milford Township is welcoming spring April 27 with its annual cleanup day and inaugural "Spring Fling," with a kite building workshop/ exhibition, a Solehi lacrosse exhibition and bake sale.

Beginning at 8 a.m., volunteers gather in Lower Milford Township to collect litter from township roads helping to keep trash out of streams and waterways. The township provides trash bags and safety vests. Around noon following the cleanup, there will be free grilled hot dogs and beverages for all the cleanup volunteers.

The day's fun doesn't stop there. Beginning around 12:30 p.m., the Lower Milford Township recreation and open space board is hosting an afternoon of kite making, kite flying, kite demonstrations and a lacrosse exhibition.

Clifford Quinn, master kite builder and member of the American Kite Association, will assist children of all ages with building, decorating and flying their own original kites. The 'free' kite workshop 12:30 to 2 p.m. is open to all. Materials will be provided by the township and Quinn. The workshop will be held at the township community park, which is directly behind the Lower Milford Township Building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg. Kite building and decorating activities will take place rain or shine.

After the kite flying activities, there will be a lacrosse exhibition by a local youth travel team in the park 2 to 3 p.m.

The Lower Milford Residents Association will be hosting a bake sale during the kite and lacrosse exhibitions. All proceeds from the bake sale will be donated to the township to be used for future park development.
