State Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd, will host an all-electronic town meeting 7-8 p.m. April 11 fielding questions simultaneously via Twitter, Facebook and email.

Conducted in real time, the town hall will appear on the @RepSchlossberg Twitter account, using the hashtag #AskSchloss.

Constituent questions can also be submitted via the RepSchlossberg Facebook page, or by email at RepSchlossberg@pahouse.net.

For added convenience and maximum participation, Schlossberg said questions can also be sent in ahead of time through any of the above social media, while a full transcript of the proceeding will be available through his state website pahouse.com/Schlossberg.

Schlossberg said the cutting-edge town hall takes advantage of popular social media communication tools, giving constituents the ability to interact with their elected representative at no added cost to them or to the taxpayer.

During his five-plus years operating social media for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, Schlossberg said he learned to value the format.

"Social media and government, if done right, are a match made in heaven. Both are all about accessibility and transparency," Schlossberg said. "I want to use social media to give my constituents a chance to let their voices be heard and have their questions answered."

Schlossberg said people have every right to expect that their elected officials come to them and given the high proportion of his constituents that use social media, he believes the electronic town hall sets a new interactivity standard.
