Acting on a recommendation from Police Chief Linda Kulp, the Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners has designated a new no parking zone.
The no parking zone is located on Crescent Court East Circle, near the offices of Magisterial District Judge Robert Halal.
In a request to the township, Halal and Rudolph Geosits said Crescent Court East Circle is often blocked by vehicles and trailers which pose a hazard for vehicles entering and exiting businesses in the circle. They requested a no parking zone on the east side of the circle.
The only available parking in the cul-de-sac is along the south side of Crescent Court, the area between People First Credit Union and the magistrate's office.
It is possible to allow parking of only two mid-sized vehicles, according to the police report. Adding vehicles in the center of the cul-de-sac obstructs the flow of traffic.
"I believe your request to be reasonable," Kulp stated, following the report of a police officer assigned to inspect the site.
Kulp then turned over the request to the township bureau of planning, zoning and development for further action. The request then went to the commissioners, who approved the request.
