A total of nine candidates are seeking four open seats for Coplay Borough Council.
Incumbent Democrats Lou Bodish, Charles Sodl and Steve Burker have all filed petitions with the Lehigh County Board of Elections declaring their candidacy, according to the county.
Burker and Sodl are both appointed to fill the seats vacated by the resignations of other council members. All three are Democrats.
Councilman Joseph Groller, whose term expires at the end of 2013, is not seeing reelection.
Four seats are open. The terms are for four years each.
Challengers seeking a position on the November ballot include Democratic challengers Jocelyn Wedge, Sophie Kesselring, Carl Luckenbach Jr., Beverly Miller and Sherry Maikits. Melvin Procanyn is also running as a Republican.
Democrats Joseph Bundra and Frank Reichl are also seeking a four-year term as mayor.
Bundra, the incumbent, was appointed in February 2012 to fill the unexpired term of former mayor John Milander, who resigned.
The primary is scheduled for May 21.
More detailed articles on the candidates will appear in a future issue of The Press.
