Park news in Lynn

Lynn Township has received a $15,000 grant from Nestlé Waters North America.

Eric Andrus, natural resource manager, said the company has been operating many years in the community and has made donations to places such as parks and schools.

He agreed to help identify projects for the use of the money in Ontelaunee Park. The company has made more than $200,000 in donations to local organizations.

Sue Giralico of the township park committee announced the car and bike cruise will take place July 14.

More volunteers are needed as they will be selling their own food instead of having outside interests do so.

A 10-foot by-10 foot canopy is the grand prize this year.

The first car cruise five years ago had 12 entries. Last year there were more than 100.

Sue Bittenbender said the number of concerts were downsized because of insufficient money.

The Majestics are tentatively scheduled to perform May 12.

On June 9, Lehigh Valley Idol will come to Ontelaunee Park without charging a fee.

The Todd Wolfe Band will play on Aug. 11 and, on Sept. 8, the Large Flowerheads are scheduled.

Bittenbender said there is insufficient parking spaces and last year drivers had to park on the grass.

The kitchen at Ontelaunee Park was never completed. The committee would like to get that work done.

"Thank you for your work," Supervisor Justin Smith said. "A lot goes on behind the scenes that people do not know about."

Resident Russell Wam-bold suggested getting a portable flag for the park.

During Pioneer Day a patriotic song was sung and their was no flag in sight.

There is one, however, at the park entrance.

There was a complaint about earth moving at the park.

A representative from Lehigh County Soil Conservation came to the park but found no problem.

For any further action, such as removing stumps, the Department of Environmental Protection is to be contacted.
