It is evident Whitehall artist Bradley M. Boyer loves painting and simply adores the impressionist style.

The walls of his home are covered with his own artwork. The detail and the colors of each piece are brilliant.

He places his artwork in the category of the American impressionist tradition and, more specifically, he considers himself a Pennsylvania impressionist painter.

Boyer said his art studio is not located inside a physical structure, but rather out in nature. He will hike to his desired destination with his backpack, easel and art supplies and set up shop.

Whether it's spring, summer, fall or winter, Boyer said, he will sit outside and paint what he sees and experiences.

"It's a little challenging, but fun," he said. "As you see color, you apply that to the canvass. Your initial impression of what you're seeing gives it a more three-dimensional look."

Similar to many artists, Boyer first developed an interest in painting as a child.

"I think I had a natural ability to see something and draw it," he said.

As a young adult, Boyer traveled to Paris, France, where he formally studied art at the world renowned Academie Julian. During his time in France, he studied, under a fine microscope artists such as Monet.

Over the years, his love for painting has grown by leaps and bounds.

"I have a love and passion for it," Boyer said. "I just have to paint. I get a real peace because I'm doing something that gives me so much pleasure. It's thrilling."

Boyer's paintings have been displayed in the Allentown Art Museum, Kimbell Art Museum (Fort Worth, Tx.), San Diego Art Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art (Ohio) and the Corcoran Art Gallery (Washington, D.C). Fortune 500 companies, such as Forbes, Microsoft, Philip Morris, Prudential and JPMorgan Chase have also displayed his artwork.

He has also received numerous awards, including the Paris Salon Gold Medal, Arts for the Parks, American Impressionist Society, the 2010 Phillips Mill New Hope Style Impressionism Award and the 2010 award for the holiday exhibition at the Baum School of Art, Allentown.

"I wouldn't want to do anything else on earth," he said.
