Lynn planning, zoning appointments controversial
At the Jan. 7 reorganization meeting of the Lynn Township supervisors, Justin Smith was appointed chairman and Brian Dietrich was name vice chairman.
Secretary/treasurer will be Tammy White. Janet Henritzy is assistant secretary.
White is on extended sick leave and Rob Sadler offered to help with the treasurer's job until she returns. He held the position previously.
Marc Fisher of Worth, McGee and Fisher will serve as solicitor and Keystone Engineering will be the township engineer.
Supervisors' meetings are scheduled for Feb. 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Dec. 12 and the end-of-year meeting on Dec. 30. All meetings will be at 6:30 p.m.
Six-township meetings will be held 8 a.m. on March 11 at North Whitehall, June 10 at Washington, Sept. 9 at Weisenberg and Dec. 9 at Heidelberg.
Willard Dellicker and Perry Long were appointed to the planning commission by-passing long time member Kathy Hermany. Appointed to the zoning hearing board was Robert Bartholomew replacing Sadler.
With both appointments Dietrich said the board was appointing people who don't show up for meetings and continuances must be held.
Toward the end of the meeting, he continued by saying he was disappointed in the supervisors because both Hermany and Sadler worked hard for the township.
Resident Scott Feinour said Sadler was the most knowledgeable person on the zoning board.
Keystone Consulting Engineers, Wescosville, was appointed as zoning officer.
Smith will continue to represent the township on the Northwestern Recreation Commission and Dietrich will be the representative to the Agricultural Land Preservation Commission.
DeLong will be on the Emergency Services Steering Committee and Jordan Valley Watershed Committee.
Carl Wolfe will be the sewage enforcement officer with alternates also reappointed.
Ann Lett of Barry Isett and Associates was appointed building codes official. Bruce Raber continues as roadmaster.
Mileage for use of a personal vehicle was set at 56.5 cents per mile.
Raber asked about using money in a four-township equipment account to make a matching grant for a $60,000 roller and trailer.
Each of the four townships would be responsible for $7,500 if the grant is received.
Brian Carl of Weisenberg discussed the possibility with the four roadmasters. Each of the four townships would have to be in agreement before it can move ahead.
The road crew has been clearing brush in Ontelaunee Park. Ebenezer Cemetery will provide shale and Utt's Excavating will spread it so grass can be planted in spring.
Raber said they will be improving sight distance at the entrance to the park.
