Missionary Moyer shares first God sighting of the new year

God sightings are always a touching thing. I didn't have to wait long for my first God sighting of the new year.

I received a call from a fellow missionary who works in another part of the Comarca in Panama.

Seems a little boy, maybe 5- or 6 years old was accidentally wacked in the face by a machette.

His father was working cutting something and the boy got too close.

She, my missionary friend, brought the boy, his mom and four other girls she was watching to the San Felix clinic where she was asking me about bus schedules.

I went down to check on the schedules. The boy was still in getting stitches and the other children had not yet eaten.

It was late, but I managed to buy some ice tea and cookies at a gas station that was open.

We gave the grub to the kids. They said thanks and went to eat and drink.

Then, one-by-one, they came back to give me a kiss and a hug, along with another thank you.

How sweet I thought but they weren't done yet.

After playing, with them asking questions, and I answering the questions, some came back for more hugs and kisses.

This was followed by "Te quiero" (I love you).

Gulp! By the time I left them, some were calling me dad; others were calling me grandfather.

How cool is that?

God sightings boil down to availability, and Matthew 25:40, "Whatever you do for the least of these, you do to me."

Blessings are available to everyone. Keep on the lookout, then respond like Jesus would want you to.

You will be blessed in many ways.

Enjoy 2013, my friends. Mine is off to a great start.
