Franklin W. Kleckner

Franklin W. Kleckner, 90, of Allentown, died December 11, 2012, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Alice E. (Pry) Klecker, who died Nov. 4, 2012. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late William and Mabel Kleckner.

He worked in sales most of his life. He worked for B Inc., Allentown, Hunter Engineering in St. Louis, Mo., and was part owner in the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market.

He proudly served during World War II with the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant Sept. 1, 1942 to Oct. 30, 1945. He participated in various Pacific campaigns in support of contingency operations. Sergeant Kleckner was directly assigned and participated in offensive air action against the enemy while in the Pacifc area as a member of an aviation ground crew. He was extremely proud of his service to the United States Marine Corps and his love of this country to the day he died.

He held a private pilot's license and will be remembered as an avid aviation enthusiast.

He is survived by sons, William F. and his wife, Talitha of The Villages, Fla., and Glen T. and his wife, Louise of Allentown; daughter, Addie Ann and her husband Rick Sherer of New Tripoli; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
