Recycling old refrigerators or freezers through PPL Electric Utilities' E-power appliance recycling program before the end of 2012 could help Scouts.

Until Dec. 30, PPL EU customers can donate the $35 they would have received for recycling their appliance to the Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America.

"We're excited to be involved in this initiative with the Scouts in the region," said Maureen Fenerty, a customer program specialist for PPL Electric Utilities who helps manage the appliance recycling program. "The Scouts are spreading the word about the great benefits of appliance recycling, and in return, customers can help them by donating the incentive they would have received for recycling."

Standard appliance eligibility requirements remain in effect for the Minsi Trails effort.

Customers who call 1-877-270-3522 or visit pplelectric.com/recycle to schedule a pickup must indicate whether they want their incentive to go to the Scouts.
