Four days days after the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the morning after the emergency response to Parkland High School, volunteer firefighters and fire police from South Whitehall, North Whitehall and Upper Macungie townships, Northern Valley and Cetronia ambulance corps personnel, State Police Troop M, South Whitehall Police, and Berks-Lehigh Regional Police, township staff, including public works, CERT teams, responded to 501 Cetronia Road, South Whitehall.

No, it wasn't an emergency situation.

Emergency Preparedness Day, a time of fun and learning for all, featured various displays, games, product giveaways and a "Wanna Be a Firefighter" course for kids.

South Whitehall Commissioner Tori Morgan was emcee for the event.

"It is obvious the energy and effort needed to put together this event," she said. "I'm in awe, and look around at all these amazing groups. We saw this past evening at the high school everyone come together with their knowledge to make it work."

She also credited Emergency Management Coordinators Jeff Kelly and Grant Grim for planning the community event.
