Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will have its annual basket social on Oct. 3. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The social begins at 7 p.m. in fellowship hall.

Hot dogs and soda will be served, as well as a wide variety of homemade desserts.

The Schnecksville Fire Company will have its first all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast of the new season 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 30.

Look for the Upper Lehigh Lions food trailer at Parkland home football games 7 p.m. Oct. 5 against Nazareth and on Oct. 12 at the game versus Freedom.

The Upper Lehigh Lions have been serving food at Parkland games since 1973. Most of that time, theirs was the only concession stand at the stadium.

While additional food stands have appeared in recent years, the Lions are the only ones selling french fries and cheese fries.

The Friends of Parkland Community Library group is working hard with fundraisers this fall.

New, light-weight book totes with the Friends logo are now available for purchase at the library.

On Nov. 14, the group will host "Of Sound Mind and Body," a murder mystery dinner show at Morgan's Restaurant.

It sounds like an intriguing story in which a magician dies suspiciously during his own act.

There's still another option to have a good time while supporting the library.

The Friends group has organized a bus trip Dec. 1 to Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon for a Christmas candlelight tour.

The day includes tours of Alexandria and the Carlyle House, a historical place with ties to the French and Indian War.

After time for shopping and dinner, the group will meet "Mrs. Washington" at Mount Vernon for a holiday tour and fireside carols.
