St. John's United Church of Christ will host Laurys Station Community Day 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Laurys Station Fire Company and athletic fields.

Fireworks will bring a gala ending to the fun-filled event.

Entertainment will be supplied by The Deadliners and DJ Dave D. during the afternoon.

At 6 p.m., the Christian Rock band SWIM will take the stage until the fireworks begin.

Newhard's Corn Shed will have roasted corn on the cob; Country View Farm will serve baked potatoes, the church will be selling homemade shoofly pies and Bad Bones BBQ will offer various barbecues.

Other features include displays of Laurys Station history, an antique and classic car show, Pfeiffer antique appraisals, a cake walk and scavenger hunt, Boy Scout Troop 144 encampment, the Miller-Keystone Memorial bloodmobile, and a community yard sale.

The Women's Cafe group of Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, will host a pork and sauerkraut dinner 4-7 p.m. on Sept. 22.

Menu includes applesauce, dessert, beverage, mashed potatoes, pork and sauerkraut.

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will celebrate Harvest Home at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services Sept. 16.

Volunteers will set up a beautiful display of produce harvested from the seeds and soil that were blessed in May before planting. The artistic arrangement and lovely harvest-themed hymns have been a longstanding tradition at the church.

Many years ago, the produce was given to the pastor as part of his pay. In later years, it was delivered to Phoebe Home.

This year, the Northern Lehigh and Allentown Ecumenical food banks will be recipients of the harvest items, plus canned and packaged food collected in a wheelbarrow.
