Coplay Sports Inc. has launched its 21st annual community fund drive to support its programs, equipment and upgrades.

Since the borough no longer mails out a monthly newsletter, which Coplay Sports and other groups used in fundraising efforts, the organization has mailed out its own flyer to all residences in the borough.

"We believe the children of our community represent the building blocks of our future," says the flyer. It notes the support of the community has allowed the organization to improve and expand its current programs for young athletes.

Children ages 5-14 can play baseball, softball and basketball at various skill levels. This year, the group has had a strong T-ball program.

The group indicated its 2012-13 needs include upgrading training equipment, uniforms and field maintenance.

The building already was upgraded to meet current code requirements and special grounds were added to the infields to help with drainage. Repairs were made to the field house exterior, worn equipment and uniforms were replaced and lights were added to both fields for night games. A dugout installation planned for the inner field also was developed.

Coplay Sports has three donation levels: President's Club – $25 or more; Honorary director – $10-$24; and Friends of Coplay Sports – $5.
