A new holiday musical is coming to an Allentown diner theater.

Pines Dinner Theatre premieres “Up on the Housetop,” Nov. 7 to Dec. 27, in its theater at the Shops at Cedar Point, Allentown.

In the original story by Oliver Blatt, Pines’ artistic director, it’s Christmas Eve and everyone at the North Pole is busy with last-minute tasks to get ready for Santa’s flight around the world.

Santa comes down with the flu. Mrs. Claus is not about to let him leave the house while he’s sick.

Someone will have to stand in for Santa to deliver all those presents. But who will be able to fill Santa’s shoes? It will take a miracle for Christmas to be saved.

“The timeless story will resonate with everyone, young and old, and definitely get everyone in the Christmas spirit,” Blatt says.

The cast includes Michael Covel, Brian Allan Chambers, Christina Freeman, Lydia Walker, Ryan Domalewiski and Meghan McGorry.

The show has original music by Blatt and Pines Music Director Stacy Bechtel, and familiar Christmas favorites such as “Up on the Housetop” and “Jingle Bells.”

Food, not included in the ticket price, is available a la carte.

Two performances of “Up on the Housetop,” 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Nov. 26, include a Thanksgiving dinner of ham and turkey and all the trimmings.

There’s a “Santa’s Christmas Sing Along Celebration,” noon Nov. 27, with an appearance by Santa and a buffet of children-friendly food.
