Brenda J. Burkhart, 84, of Kutztown and formerly of Lenhartsville, died Aug. 31, 2026, at Willow Brook Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Kutztown. She was the wife of the late David M. Burk- hart.

Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel N. and Grace I. (Hunsicker) Snyder.

She was a 1960 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School and later earned her LPN certificate from Reading Area Community College.

She worked as an LPN for the Hearthstone at Maidencreek in Reading and served as a substitute school nurse for Northwestern Lehigh School District and as a floating school nurse for Kutztown School District. In 1974, she made history as the first woman union laborer for Alvin J. Butz Construction Co.

She was a member of Bridge Church in Hamburg, as well as the Praetorius German Association in Germansville.

She is survived by a son, Dean E. Hartman of Orefield; two daughters, Betty J. with David R. Geisler and Tina M. Hartman, both of Kempton; five grandchildren, Derrick, Rody, Katie, Megan and Jillian; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Brian L. with Bonnie Snyder and Gary D. Snyder, both of New Tripoli; a sister, Patricia with Daniel Christ of Kempton; a brother-in-law, Peter Reichert of Egypt; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lisa G. Hartman; a sister, Rita K. Snyder; a nephew, Brett Snyder; and a sister-in-law, Susie Snyder.
