Emmaus boys soccer remains unbeaten
The Emmaus High School boys soccer team remains undefeated on the season after three Eastern Pennsylvania Conference wins last week.
In the middle of their three-game stretch last week, the Hornets trailed in a game for the first time all season, but were able to complete a comeback. They defeated East Stroudsburg South 3-0 last Wednesday, rallied over Stroudsburg 2-1 on Friday, and then hung on to beat Liberty 1-0 Saturday.
In the game with the Cavaliers, Emmaus scored all three goals in the second half as Jeremy Sharpless found the back of the net twice and Anthony Suida rounded out the scoring with one goal. Brennan Stack, Caleb Brown and Caeden Thornton each contributed an assist. The Hornets outshot ESS 16-9 overall and 9-4 on goal, with a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks. Chase Evans finished with four saves.
The Emmaus defense had only allowed one goal all season before a penalty kick goal against the Mounties early in the first half. Brown and Stack answered though in the first half and helped their team comeback for the victory. Maseyn Muthard and London Barrett both had an assist. Evans made two saves and Nate Schalles had one. Emmaus had a 14-4 shots advantage and 8-1 edge in corners.
In the victory over the Hurricanes, Lorenzo LoPiccolo scored the game’s lone goal on a corner kick in the second half off an assist by Stack. Evans finished with three saves. The Hornets outshot Liberty 10-4 overall and 7-3 on goal and held a 5-1 edge in corners.
Emmaus, which improved to 10-0-1 overall and 9-0-1 in the conference, was at Pleasant Valley Tuesday and hosts Bethlehem Catholic Wednesday before welcoming East Stroudsburg North Friday.
