EHS boys soccer shuts out three opponents
The Emmaus High School boys soccer team continued to win games and did so with three consecutive shutout wins in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference last week.
The Hornets held on for a one-goal win last Tuesday, Sept. 29, defeating Pleasant Valley 1-0. Then, in back-to-back home games, they downed Bethlehem Catholic 3-0 the next day and beat East Stroudsburg North 8-0 on Friday.
Emmaus remains unbeaten and has allowed just two goals all season.
“The defense has been playing really strongly for us,” said Hornet head coach John Cari. “They have really worked hard and have done a great job keeping goals out of our net.”
In the win over the Bears, Noah Tintle recorded the game-winning goal in the first half off a rebound. Chase Evans finished with two saves in net. Emmaus outshot PV 10-3 overall and 6-2 on goal.
In the victory against the Golden Hawks, the Hornets scored once in the first half and twice in the second. Tintle had the first half goal. Brennan Stack and London Barrett each found the back of the net in the second half. Maseyn Muthard contributed two assists and Elek Chuhran added one. Nat Schalles and Jibreel Naiem split time in goal.
Emmaus recorded four goals in both the first and second halves to down ESN. Stack and Anthony Suida each tallied two goals with Stack adding an assist. Lorenzo LoPiccolo, Barrett, Xavier Kieber-Emmons and Noah Delgado rounded out the scoring with a goal each. LoPiccolo and Kieber-Emmons each had one assist and Muthard contributed two assists.
With two weeks left in the regular season, there have been a lot of success on the field both from the players and also from Cari, earning career win No. 365, becoming the winningest boys soccer coach in the region.
“I’ve been fortunate to have great kids,” Cari said. “I’m excited because I don’t think I would have done this anywhere else but my alma mater. I have outstanding assistant coaches who make all the difference in the world. I’m just fortunate we’ve been able to do this a long time, but I’m not burned out. I genuinely love doing this. It’s really a grand slam being in my spot. It’s not me, it’s the great kids I’ve been able to work with.”
Emmaus, which improved to 13-0-1 overall and 12-0-1 in the conference, has two conference games this week, hosting Nazareth Wednesday night and then is at Allen on Friday. Next week is the last week of the regular season.
