Hannis has real passion for football
Growing up, Aidan Hannis always was comfortable with football. His father, Ron was a coach at Muhlenberg, and older brother, Jacob, was a former Whitehall standout.
His family has been his biggest asset.
“It is really nice to have my dad coach because he is always there to help if I need something,” stated Hannis. “I really got to learn from my brother when I was younger watching him play.”
Since seventh grade, the younger Hannis has grown and developed in the Zephyrs’ program. This season, Hannis, a sophomore, has been Whitehall’s middle linebacker and has flourished.
In the Zephyrs’ first four games, Hannis led the team in tackles with 32 and he has recorded a sack. Recently against Pleasant Valley, Hannis had seven tackles.
For Hannis as he heads down the home stretch of the regular season, it has been a natural fit. He always had been confident in his abilities and hasn’t let any obstacles stand in his way.
“I always played linebacker,” said Hannis. “It is very comfortable, and I understand it. I love playing it.”
Hannis has seen his team evolve from the summer.
“Our season has developed very well from camp to now,” noted Hannis. “We are a very different team. I feel very comfortable with everything. Our team has a great bond with our scheme. We all fit very well.”
Head coach Andy Marino has relished Hannis’s contributions and his future.
“Aidan Hannis is a mature sophomore,” said Marino. “He has embraced the role of being a middle linebacker. He does all the little things as well, and we’re excited for him.”
Hannis, who enjoys golfing, fishing, and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, sees a tight bond among his teammates becoming more concrete, especially with their 3-1 start.
“Our team is very resilient,” stressed Hannis. “We will always play four quarters and never quit.
“We believe we can have a great finish to our season.”
