Liberty has had its share of drama to end the field hockey season, but the Hurricanes hope it can lead to a run in the District 11 postseason next week.

The Hurricanes (9-10) needed overtime in their regular season finale to knock off Freedom 1-0 to clinch a postseason berth, thanks to Lily Medaska’s game-winner.

The win helped punch a ticket to the EPC tournament as well, where they entered as the seventh-seed and took on second-seeded Parkland last Saturday.

The Trojans came away with a 4-2 victory to advance to Tuesday’s league semifinals.

Liberty now awaits their fate for districts, as seven teams qualified in 3A with the Hurricanes clinching the final spot and possibly setting up a rematch against Parkland next week.
