LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

BC eyes finals

The EPC volleyball championships heat up this week with semifinal action taking place and two Bethlehem schools are battling for spots in the finals.

Bethlehem Catholic (17-1) and Liberty (15-2) are both looking to advance to Thursday’s championship at Northampton.

The top-seeded Hawks took on Central Catholic (14-3) in Tuesday’s semifinal, which was past Press deadlines and third-seeded Liberty looked to slay Parkland (18-1) in a showdown against one of the top teams in the area.

Beca advanced to the semis with a sweep over Pocono Mountain East in the quarterfinal round and Liberty took down Pleasant Valley in four games to advance.

This will be the first meeting between Beca and Central this season, as well as the first showdown between the Hurricanes and Trojans.

Parkland is undefeated in league play this year and poses the biggest threat for both teams, as they swept Beca in their only meeting this season.

Finals are set for 7 p.m. on Thursday night.
