Howard Lerch Jr., 78, of Northampton, died Oct. 13, 2026, following a battle with cancer.

He was the son of the late Howard Sr. and Pauline (Newhard) Lerch.

He retired after a long career with Keystone Auto Parts (LKQ Corporation).

He served as a crew member for Beers Motorsports. He began crewing for Dale Beers during the Dorney Park days and continued as the team traveled to racetracks up and down the East Coast.

He was a longtime supporter and the current vice commander of Squadron 353 of the Sons of the American Legion in Northampton.

He is survived by a brother, Keith of Northampton and his extended family: Eric Beers and wife Cherie and their children Austin and Kailyn with Jack Ely; Lori Kerper and husband David and their children Shaye, Justin Bunce and wife Chelsea and their children Nolan and Taytum; Bobbi Jo and Greg Martin and son Owen; Brennen Coutler, Beaner, Bev Scherer; several cousins; and longtime friend, Adam Marinkovits.
