Doubles team takes fourth

The EPC tennis tournament took place last week.

Two doubles teams from Northampton and one from Whitehall qualified for the event.

At two doubles, NHS’ Dahlia Janis and Keely Holland earned the seventh seed, but they got a tough draw against Parkland’s two seed of Yihan Li and Syrien Alvin, who would win and advance. The Parkland team would fall in the next round to Central’s Julia Janis and Michaela Durie and that team would win the bracket as the three seed. They upset the top seed, Emmaus’ Katy Kapp and Nat Hillegass.

In four doubles, the Northampton duo of Jarelis Rosado-Cedeno and Abigail Wright earned the eight seed. They would fall to top seed Mehek Garg and Sophie Law of Parkland. That Parkland duo would advance to the finals but fall to Emmaus’ Emily Kaufman and Riya Patel which were the two-seeds.

One Whitehall team qualified as well. Lamitta Layous and Elina Dabboura were the fifth seed and upset Liberty’s team of Addison Poindexter and Ainsley Kutz, which were seeded fourth.

Whitehall would fall to Parkland’s Garg and Law in the semis and then settled for fourth place falling to Central’s Mia Muir and Emma de Gale, which were the third seeds.

Emmaus’ Zoe Santana won one singles, Parkland’s Sonia Lee won two singles and Central’s Giada Montone won the three singles bracket. All three players were top seeds.

Centrals’ Carly Eisenhard and Charlotte Hood won the three doubles bracket as the three seed.
