A glimpse into history

CONTRIBUTED PHOTOSJonna-Li Catrini details the importance of a chatelaine, from which keys, household and personal items are suspended from a waist chain, during a Sept. 19 presentation as part of the America 250 celebration at the Bath Museum, 121 S. Walnut St. Catrini is a reenactor and portrayed a camp follower with the 16th Maine “At Any Cost” Volunteer Infantry Regiment. She described women’s roles and experiences of the regiment and its significance at the Battle of Gettysburg.
Catrini shows an Enfield 1853 rifle-musket used in the Civil War. This firearm was valued for its accuracy and dependability and was used by both the Union and Confederate soldiers.
