Recreation Committee reviews year, plans ahead

On the heels of a successful Large Flowerheads concert held September 12 at Franko Park the recreation advisory committee met to assess and plan for future events during its Sept. 21 meeting.

This year the committee hosted two concerts at the Franko Park venue —- the AM Radio Tribute Band in May and the most recent Large Flowerhead concert. The weather was favorable for both concerts with the latter drawing nearly 300 people to the park and three food trucks on site provided several options for hungry attendees.

The committee is planning similar events in the coming year.

Committee members report that as the parks transition from summer to fall usage the pickleball courts at both Lindberg Park and McCullough Park are supporting a great deal of play by residents. Similarly, the walking trail surrounding Lindberg sees heavy usage on a daily basis.

Upcoming community events include Trunk or Treat, which will be held Oct. 31 2-4 p.m. on the grounds of Salisbury Middle School. Families are invited to dress in costume and enjoy an afternoon of Halloween fun and treats.

Rounding out the community events for 2026 will be the Light Up Night at Franko Park 5-7 p.m. Nov. 28. Last year’s event was well attended and a fun, family-friendly way to gather with fellow residents and ring in the holiday season.

The next meeting of the recreation advisory committee will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16.
