PHS rolls past Rovers
Last season ended in the District 11 6A final for the Parkland High School football team when Easton ended the Trojans’ season.
The Trojans were able to flip the script last week when they met the Red Rovers in week 3 of the 2026 season, winning by a 30-point margin at Cottingham Stadium.
Parkland scored three quick touchdowns to go up 21-0 and continued to surge forward, taking down the Red Rovers 44-14 last Friday night in a nonconference game at Cottingham Stadium.
Counting the season-opening defeat at Phillipsburg in week one this season, the Trojans had actually lost their last two games before going into Bethlehem and beating Freedom two weeks ago and then getting revenge on Easton.
“It was nice to bounce back from the opening loss, and I felt our mind set changed the following two weeks in practice and preparation,” said Parkland head coach Tim Moncman. “Losing the first game can be tough for moral, but I’m proud of the guys with how they responded and created some momentum moving forward.”
The Trojans outscored Easton 16-0 in the second half after the hosts recorded 14 straight points in the second quarter. Parkland finished with 423 yards of total offense, 277 on the ground and 146 through the air.
“We were able to get a good mix on offense with the run and pass,” Moncman said. “Defensively, we made some mistakes in the first half but settled down and pitched a shutout in the second half.”
TJ Lawrence rushed for 186 yards on 23 carries and tallied three touchdowns, two in the second quarter and another in the third. He also caught a pass for 17 yards. Him and David Scherb had their hands in five of the six Parkland touchdowns. Scherb caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Finn Coen to open the scoring in the first quarter and then actually threw a TD pass of 40 yards to Blake Nassry in the second. Lawrence had scores of five and 17 yards, respectively, in the second quarter, and then added a 27-yarder in the third.
Andrea Giroudon kicked a 33-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and Tycen Norman capped the Trojans scoring with a 12-yard run.
Parkland, which improved to 2-1 overall, will finally play at home for the first time this season when it welcomes Stroudsburg to Parkland School District Stadium this Thursday night.
The Mounties are also 2-1, having defeated George Washington in the season opener and then Wilkes-Barre in week two. They lost to Liberty 14-7 last Thursday night.
