PHS girls volleyball wins first eight games

The Parkland High School girls volleyball team is off to a fast start to begin the 2026 regular season.

The Trojans have won their first eight Eastern Pennsylvania Conference matches to open the year, all via straight-set sweeps.

Last week in two road conference matches, Parkland first defeated Dieruff last Wednesday and then downed Northampton last Friday.

In the win over the Huskies, they won by scores of 25-9, 25-16, 25-9. Gabby Nissen led the attack with seven kills. Both Riley Schilling and Sami Walls finished with six kills and MJ Bhanji recorded six kills, two aces and two blocks. Zoey Leach tallied six aces and five digs. Chloe Coonradt notched three aces and six digs and Alex Serina contributed 23 assists and two aces.

In the victory against the Kids, Parkland won by scores of 25-19, 25-11, 25-12. Each of Bhanji and Nissen finished with seven kills, with Bhanji adding two blocks and two aces. Schilling totaled six kills. Coonradt had 11 digs to lead the defense and Serina added 24 assists.

Parkland, which improved to 8-0 overall and 8-0 in the conference, was at Pleasant Valley Tuesday and then hosts two conference matches this week with Easton on Thursday and then Bethlehem Catholic on Saturday. The Trojans are at Emmaus next Tuesday.
