PHS girls soccer bounces back from loss

The Parkland High School girls soccer team split a pair of Eastern Pennsylvania Conference games lasts week The Trojans fell for the first time this season to begin the week, but bounced back with a positive result to conclude the week.

Last Wednesday, Sept. 9, Parkland fell to Easton 2-1 at home, but then responded with a 2-0 road victory at Freedom on Friday.

In the game with the Red Rovers, Mia Russell came away with the lone goal for her team on an assist by Sarah Avila. Parkland outshot Easton 7-2 and the teams were tied 6-6 in penalty corners. Bianca Yetta netted both goals for Easton.

In the victory over the Patriots, the Trojans tallied both goals in the second half coming from Mackenzie McNeely and Sarah Avila. Chloe Sammarco and Adrianna Rizzotto each contributed an assist.

Parkland, which moved to 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, has a busy, three-game week this week with three conference matchups. The Trojans hosted East Stroudsburg South this past Tuesday night, are at Stroudsburg on Thursday afternoon and then welcome Pleasant Valley to Parkland High School on Saturday morning, before going to East Stroudsburg North Monday afternoon.
