Parkland field hockey beats Eagles, ’Canes

The Parkland field hockey team stayed unbeaten in league play with a pair of wins last week. The Trojans also played a nonleague game and added a tie to their record after finishing deadlocked at 1-1 with Penn Manor.

Parkland rolled to a 6-0 win over Liberty last Monday, Sept. 14. Leah Frew, Lila Temchatin and Kamryn Karrat each had a goal and an assist in the win. Olivia Esteban, Sydney Sensinger and Alana Vasilakos also scored goals against the Hurricanes.

Audrina Stewart stopped four Liberty shots as her team outshot its opponent 21-4 in the game.

Parkland beat Nazareth 2-0 last Wednesday, Sept. 16. Lily Natale had a goal and an assist in the win, while Sensinger also scored a goal. Stewart made one save as the Trojans outshot the Blue Eagles 13-1 and held a 13-4 edge in penalty corners. The loss was just the second of the season for Nazareth with it’s other coming against Emmaus.

Parkland hosted Penn Manor Saturday and settled for a 1-1 tie to a program that consistently reaches the state playoffs. Sensinger scored the Trojans’ goal with an assist from Karrat. Parkland outshot the Comets 8-5.

Parkland came out of last week at 8-1-1 overall and 6-0 in East Penn Conference play. The Trojans and Emmaus are the only two unbeaten teams left in the league.

They are also the top two teams in the District 11 Class 3A rankings with the Hornets in first place based on rating points.
