Meyer nets pair of goals twice
The Emmaus High School girls soccer team had its most productive week of games this regular season thus far as it scored season-highs in goals and did not allow any in back-to-back Eastern Pennsylvania Conference road games to remain undefeated.
The Hornets first defeated Pocono Mountain West 9-0 last Wednesday and then followed that up two days later with a 9-0 victory at Bethlehem Catholic on Friday.
In the win over the Panthers, there were seven different goal scorers, led by two goals each from Giuliana Meyer and Autumn Scheuermann. Amelia Lower, Brynn Campbell, Cecilia Albeck, Sofia Isaksson and Lizzie Bender all found the back of the net once. Brooke Evans tallied three assists, Hannah Berk contributed two assists and Lower, Stella Pietrulewicz, Dempsey Hochbein and Ella Scharper all had one. Morgan Betz and Zoe Reppert both split time in goal and neither was forced into action, as Emmaus outshot PMW 20-0.
It was a similar story in the victory against the Golden Hawks as both Evans and Meyer totaled two goals each. Albeck, Scharper, Hochbein, Pietrulewicz and Makayla McGinnis all tallied one goal. Bender led the way with four assists and both Meyer and Sophia Shutkufski had one assist. Reppert and Betz finished with two saves in net. The Hornets outshot Becahi 18-4.
Emmaus, which improved to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference, has a three-game week with all conference games. The Hornets opened the week hosting Northampton Tuesday and are at Dieruff Wednesday. They welcome Easton to Memorial Field on Saturday and are at Freedom Monday.
