Lower Milford Township supervisors will attend the planning commission’s Oct. 5 meeting to discuss whether planning commission meetings should be livestreamed and recorded.
The issue was first discussed in August and generated mixed reactions from planning commission members. Commissioners invited supervisors to attend their meeting for further discussion. Although supervisors initially preferred that planning commission members attend a supervisors meeting, they ultimately agreed to participate in the Oct. 5 session. Because it will be a joint meeting, it will be advertised, recorded and livestreamed on YouTube.
Township Manager Elizabeth Lembach also reported on a recent Lehigh Valley Planning Commission housing presentation. According to projections presented at the event, Lower Milford faces a shortage of about 34 housing units annually and could need an additional 822 housing units by 2050. Lembach said questions remain about how such projections would be enforced, though county officials emphasized the role municipalities may play in addressing housing needs.
The board also continued discussions about the Lower Milford Fire Company tanker truck and how its certification could affect the township’s Insurance Services Office rating, which can influence homeowners insurance costs. Officials said additional research is needed before decisions are made regarding repairs, funding or possible relocation of the fire station.
