Becahi, FHS cruise to victories

Bethlehem Catholic bounced back from their week four loss to Easton in convincing fashion last week, rolling past Allen 51-0.

Justin Martinez provided the early spark for Bethlehem Catholic, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries, all in the first half. The Golden Hawks also received a big performance from Zakai Brake, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

Antonio Salamoni added 80 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries, while quarterback Axel Burkart ran for 27 yards and a touchdown and completed 6 of 11 passes for 87 yards and a score.

Burkart’s touchdown pass came late in the first half when he connected with Armando Thom for a 36-yard touchdown, giving Bethlehem Catholic a 38-0 advantage and putting the game under the mercy rule for the second half.

The Hawks improved to 4-1 on the season and hit the road this week when they travel to East Stroudsburg South (2-3) on Friday night.

Freedom had no trouble dispatching Dieruff last week as well, crushing the Huskies 61-0.

Lashawn Johnson carried the ball five times for 180 yards and two scores. Michael Stofanak completed 5-of-10 passes for 65 yards and three scores.

Davyan Moore, Marquis Chapman (two touchdowns) and Christian Engelhardt each hauled in receiving scores.

The win moved the Pates to 3-2 on the year with a road trip to East Stroudsburg North (0-5) Friday night.
