Allentown Central Catholic highlights September activities, October events
Allentown Central Catholic High School has been busy this September and has plenty more events lined up for October.
The school’s CCP Food Drive has been taking place throughout the month, giving students an opportunity to give back and help those in need. The senior student council has also been organizing events and activities to kick off the school year.
On Sept. 10, members of the Class of 2027 gathered in The Pits for Senior Sunrise. Students enjoyed doughnuts and bagels while coming together to celebrate the beginning of the school year.
On Sept. 13, the boys soccer team showed its support for Go4theGoal and pediatric cancer awareness by wearing gold laces during its game. The gold laces represented strength and hope while reminding everyone that no child fights alone.
Student council officers attended a Diocese Leadership Summit Sept. 18. The event was hosted by Berks Catholic at Saint Christopher Newman Catholic Center at Kutztown University. Students listened to an inspiring speaker, exchanged ideas with students from other diocesan high schools and concluded the day with Mass celebrated by Bishop Schlert.
ACCHS welcomed its Mini Vikes football players and cheerleaders Sept. 19 to support the Vikings during their game against East Stroudsburg. The day also included the annual “My Jersey, Your Impact” ceremony, where members of the Class of 2027 recognized teachers who have made a meaningful impact on their lives.
Students also represented ACCHS at the Pennsylvania March for Life Sept. 21. The girls tennis team celebrated Senior Night Sept. 23, honoring the team’s seniors.
Looking ahead, the Vikings will host a Morgan’s Message game Oct. 1 dedicated to mental health awareness among student-athletes. A Morgan’s Message dress-down day also will take place Oct. 5.
On Oct. 14, CYO volleyball players are invited to watch the Vikette volleyball team with free admission, along with a free hot dog and water. The junior varsity game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity match at 6:30 p.m.
The ACCHS community also will celebrate its 100th anniversary Oct. 16. As part of the homecoming celebration, ACCHS invites all former marching band members to participate. The invitation is open to instrumentalists, drum majors, honor guard, rifle, flag and baton members as the school celebrates a century of faith, tradition and excellence.
On Oct. 31, ACCHS Viking boys lacrosse will host its first golf outing at Whitetail Golf Course.
