Liberty and Bethlehem Catholic both suffered narrow losses last weekend in EPC football action.

Liberty fell to Northampton 13-12 in another close matchup between the two schools. Zyaire Davis gave the Hurricanes an early spark, scoring twice on touchdown receptions. He finished with seven catches for 148 yards, including a 43-yard screen pass for Liberty’s first score.

Liberty took a 12-7 lead into halftime, but Northampton’s Chase Kessler scored on a 1-yard run with 52 seconds left in the third quarter for the eventual game-winning touchdown.

The Hurricanes had one final opportunity after intercepting Northampton late in the fourth quarter, but they were unable to convert a 4th-and-18, allowing the Konkrete Kids to get in victory formation.

The loss dropped the Hurricanes to 1-3 on the season with a Thursday night matchup on the road at Whitehall this week.

Bethlehem Catholic also dropped a heartbreaker, falling to Easton 20-14 on a three-yard touchdown pass from Zahviay McGurn to Justin Cosover on the final play of regulation.

It was the first loss of the season for the Hawks (3-1) and a vitally important second win of the campaign for Easton (2-2).

The Golden Hawks rallied from a 14-0 deficit to tie the game on two Justin Martinez touchdown runs, including a one-yard score that capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive early in the second half.

Bethlehem Catholic quarterback Axel Burkart had a strong all-around performance, throwing for 176 yards and rushing for 121 yards.

The Becahi offense was without star wide receiver Carter Vassa, who missed the contest with an injury.

The Hawks should get back on track this week when they host Allen (3-1) on Saturday night
