Joanne Neitz, 77, of Bethlehem, died at St Lukes Hospice Sept. 13, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mikitka, and the wife of Edward J. Neitz for 52 years.

She was a 1970 graduate of Kutztown State College with a degree in education and was a teacher at Miller Heights ES for 39 years. She enjoyed teaching and said it was important to give her students a good educational start in life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by; siblings Marilyn Halteman, wife of Daniel, Annamarie Barrall, wife of Robert, and Marybeth Friedman, wife of Scott; niece Jennifer Kaltreider, wife of Adam; nephew Joshua Friedman; great-nephew and great-niece Michael and Mackenzie Kaltreider.
