Donald J. Evans
Donald J. Evans, 85, of Salisbury Township, died Sept. 1, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Gail E. (Ginkinger) Evans, shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Bartholomew) Evans.
He was a 1961 graduate of William Allen High School in Allentown.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, deployed several times to the Mediterranean.
He worked at Mack Trucks in multiple capacities for 32 years until retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury for many years.
He had a great love of cars from a young age, which only grew as he matured. In retirement, his favorite pastime was to tinker with anything mechanical in the garage — he enjoyed fixing cars, lawn mowers, tractors, radios and even watches.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail; children, Donna Jones and her husband, Kevin, of Bath, Douglas and his wife, Kim, of Whitehall, William and his wife, Jennifer, of Coplay; siblings, Warren “Speedy” and his wife Mary Lou, of St. Louis, Mo., Louise Stephens and her husband, Bruce, of Salisbury Township; sister-in-law, Barbara; grandchildren, Alexandra (fiancé Lawrence Keba), Sarah, James, Michael; 11 nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Butch.”
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jerusalem Lutheran Church of Eastern Salisbury, 1707 Church Road, Allentown, 18103.
