Robert C. Hontz Jr.
Robert C. Hontz Jr., 64, of Salisbury Township, died peacefully Aug. 26, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital with his wife, as always, by his side. He was the beloved husband of Michelle (Maini) Hontz. Born in Allentown, Robert was the son of the late Robert C. Hontz and Marion J. (Whitby) Steidel.
He was a graduate of William Allen High School, Class of 1980.
He was an auto mechanic by trade and dedicated the last 14 years serving as a bus mechanic for the Whitehall-Coplay School District. Before that, he spent more than 30 years working at Alton Park Service Center.
He grew up playing sports with Alton Park Youth League and later coaching. He also coached a variety of sports for Salisbury Youth Association, proudly supporting his son as he participated in every sports program. He also spent decades enjoying softball in various adult leagues in the Lehigh Valley.
He loved spending time golfing and fishing and the many camping adventures with his wife and son.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Emmaus.
He bravely participated in clinical trials at The National Institutes of Health, contributing to research and the continued advancement of medical care.
He is survived by his wife; son, Daniel R.; sister, Wanda; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salisbury Youth Association, 1140 Salisbury Road, Allentown, 18103.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 5 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 415 S. Sixth St., Emmaus. A viewing will be held 6-8:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton streets, Allentown.
