St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., is having a Kornfeind’s Market sandwich sale fundraiser. Orders and payment are due by Sept. 4. Pickup will be 4-6 p.m. Sept. 16 in the lower level church hall.

The choices are roast beef, ham and turkey. Sandwiches are on Kaiser rolls and come with white American cheese and a packet of mustard or mayonnaise.

There has been an update regarding the Catasauqua Borough Post Office reopening. Congressman Ryan Mackenzie said, according to USPS, the project is still on track for completion in December.

North Catasauqua Police Department will hold a Stop the Bleed campaign course 10:30 a.m.-noon Sept. 12 at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St. The course teaches people how to apply pressure to wounds, pack wounds with gauze and use tourniquets.

The North Catasauqua and Catasauqua Halloween parade committee has announced the parade route for 2026. The parade route is as follows: begins at 14th and Walnut streets, Walnut Street to St John Street, St John Street to Church Street, Church Street to Howertown Road, Howertown Road to Bridge Street, Bridge Street to Fourth Street, Fourth Street to Buttonwood Street, Buttonwood Street to Sixth Street and end at the North Catasauqua park.

The parade will take place this year Oct. 21, with a rain date of Oct. 28.

School is back in session, which means we will see school buses on our roads. The Pennsylvania school bus stopping law states motorists must stop at least 10 feet from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended.

Penalties for failure to obey school bus safety laws can result in a $250 fine, five points on a driving record and a 60-day license suspension.

Veterans assistance is available the first Thursday of the month at one of the district offices of Mako’s office. The veterans outreach program is available at the Northampton or Slatington offices on alternating months from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., by appointment only. During the special hours, a service member from the American Legion is available to meet with local veterans and assist them with issues they may be having accessing benefits and services from the U.S. Veterans Affairs.
