Excitement filled the air as the new East Allen Elementary School on Seemsville Road hosted several communitywide open houses Aug. 21 and 22. These events gave residents, students and other interested visitors their first opportunity to tour the school.
More than 2,000 students, parents and community members attended the open house and meet-the-teacher events.
The school will accommodate grades K-5 and approximately 650 students.
Construction of the new 159,000-square-foot elementary school and education center started in 2023 and was on track to open fall of 2026. The two-story, $75.8 million building was designed by KCBA Architects. It is designed around a central courtyard that is an added security feature and is only accessible through classrooms.
The hallways and classrooms are bright with natural light from many large windows throughout.
District substitute teacher Danelle Miller said there are “spacious classrooms” and “big and bright bulletin boards” outside of each. She was also impressed “grade-level classrooms will be kept together.”
Students will have the chance to name the new elementary tiger mascot, featured on posters throughout the school.

Incoming first-grader Carter Mingora takes his second tour of the school. He attended Franklin Elementary School as a kindergartner. He said his favorite feature of the new school are the water fountains.
