Salvatore Anthony Cusumano, 88, of Macungie, died Aug. 16, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, from complications after a fall. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the second son to Charles and Catherine (Maniscalco) Cusumano. He was the husband of Rosemarie (Marino) Cusumano for 66 years.

A veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (1960-1962), he went on to become an earth science teacher in North Babylon, N.Y., from 1965 until his retirement in 1993.

He and his wife moved to Macungie in 2002.

He was a member of Christ the King (Commack, N.Y.), St. Joseph’s Church (Kings Park, N.Y.) and St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Emmaus, where he was an active member of the choir.

He hand made wood carvings and silver jewelry in his workshop and always had a rock tumbler going. He was a craftsman, utilizing various mediums to create many works. He also painted and played several instruments, favoring the clarinet, piano, various horns and the guitar. He played taps each year at a Memorial Day service in his community.

He enjoyed camping with his family, traveling and fishing with his sons.

In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Nancy (Steven Sturdevant), Cynthia (Mark) Green, Carolyn (David) Faust; sons, Charles (Caeli), Paul (Kim Ricci); two grandsons; 10 granddaughters; brothers-in-law, Michael (Anne), Robert (Antoinette) Marino; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Charles.

Services will be held 6-8 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Bachman, Kulik and Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus, with a viewing 9-10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 415 S. Sixth St., Emmaus. Online condolences may be made at www.BKRFH.com.
