Michael C. Smyth Sr., 85, of Northampton, died Aug. 16, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Christina (Mirque) Smyth for 63 years.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Samuel and Josephine Smyth.
After he graduated high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. During his four years of active duty and two years in the reserves, he achieved the rank of SK2, E-5, before being honorably discharged.
He earned his associate degree in business marketing from West Chester Community College.
He entered the workforce as a sales associate for Gulf Oil Company, working his way up to sales manager in his 41 years of service before retiring in 2006.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Theresa Salerno and husband David of Bethlehem, Michael C. Jr. and wife Carol of Bethlehem, Peter and wife Laura of Ramsey, N.J., and Veronica Charles and husband Frank of Easton; seven grandchildren, David Jr., Thomas and Olivia Salerno, Michael III and Caitlyn, Lucas and Lilyana Charles; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Camila Salerno.
There will be a calling time noon-2 p.m. Aug. 27, followed by a memorial service 2 p.m. at the funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067.
