Salisbury Township police officer promoted to corporal-detective

Salisbury Township police Officer Noah Lopresti has been promoted to corporal-detective.

Lopresti was administered the oath of office by Magisterial District Judge Kyle B. Miller, District Court 31-1-08, at the Aug. 13 Salisbury Township board of commissioners meeting.

Lopresti’s wife, Candice, pinned on his badge at the swearing-in ceremony.

According to the Salisbury Township Police Department, Lopresti graduated from the Allentown Police Academy in 2015 and joined the Salisbury Township Police Department in 2017.

Lopresti has served as a field training officer, Taser instructor and BolaWrap instructor for the police department.

Lopresti served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2008 to 2012 as an M1A1 Abrams tank mechanic.

In 2009, Lopresti deployed to Afghanistan and served in Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lopresti was honorably discharged from the Marines at the rank of corporal.

Before the swearing-in ceremony, Salisbury Township Police Chief Donald Sabo told commissioners, “This is part of our 24/7 coverage.”

After the meeting, Sabo said, “We’ve been working on having 24/7 supervision covering the administration of officers.”

Sabo said the 24-officer police department is at full staffing for the first time in many years.

In addition to Sabo and Salisbury Township Police Lt. Christopher Casey, the department has two sergeants, two corporals and two detectives.

In other business at the Aug. 13 meeting, commissioners voted 5-0 to approve:

• A resolution authorizing a grant application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Commonwealth Financing Authority for a Northampton and Lehigh counties Local Share Account grant of $164,421.76 to purchase two police cruisers.

Salisbury Township Commissioner Alex Karol made the motion, seconded by Salisbury Township Commissioner Allison Leayman.

• A motion to approve Financial Security Release Certification No. 1 for $675,559.83 requested by Vistas of South Mountain LLC.

Salisbury Township Commissioner Alok Patnaik made the motion, seconded by Salisbury Township Commissioner Heather Lipkin.

The proposed Salisbury Township Comprehensive Plan update was discussed during the workshop following the meeting.

Salisbury Township meetings scheduled at the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave., include: 7 p.m. Aug. 19, Environmental Advisory Council; 7 p.m. Aug. 26, Planning Commission; and 7 p.m. Aug. 27, Board of Commissioners.
