Emilie Louise Peters

born in Coplay

Emilie Louise Peters, 72, died Aug. 14, 2026, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the partner of the late Keith Leonardo for more than 20 years.

Born in Coplay and raised in Dallas, Pa., she was a daughter of the late David and Phyllis Peters.

She was a 1971 graduate of Dallas Senior High School, and she earned her teaching degree from Bloomsburg University. She also earned her master’s degree in accounting from King’s College and her Master of Business Administration from Misericordia University.

She worked as a substitute math teacher and a bookkeeper at The Castle Inn. She then entered the telecommunications industry at C-TEC (Frontier Communications). She retired in 2023 as the director of customer care after more than 30 years of dedicated service at RCN (now Astound Broadband).

She is survived by a daughter, Kaitlynn Phyllis; a son-in-law, Faisal; two grandchildren, Nora and David; two sisters, Sara with Edward and Holly with Jeffrey; two brothers, David with Susan and Jeffrey with Lisa; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

In addition to her partner, she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Ann.

A viewing and celebration of life will be held 11 a.m.-noon, followed by a funeral service noon, Aug. 22 at the funeral home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay.

Contributions may be made to a local animal shelter or public library.
